The Person Behind It
Before any of this, there was a shipyard. Not a desk job. Not a comfortable office. A shipyard with heavy equipment, extreme conditions, the kind of work that leaves you physically wrecked by the end of a shift. The pay was barely enough to cover the basics. £2,000 a month, month after month, with nothing left over and no obvious way forward.
Trading started at 17. Not with a mentor or a system. Just a screen, a lot of late nights, and no real idea what was happening. The early losses came quickly. Two years of grinding through strategies that didn't work, accounts that got wiped, and the slow, frustrating process of figuring out what the market was actually doing versus what it looked like it was doing.
Most people quit somewhere in that two-year stretch. The losses are too demoralising, the progress too slow, the self-doubt too loud. Staying in it, going back to the charts after a bad month, rebuilding after a blown account, that's the part nobody talks about because it's not the part that makes a good story. But that's the part that built the system.
At 19, it clicked. The losses stopped. The trades started working. Not every one (they never all work) but consistently enough to know that something real had been figured out. By 21, trading was the only income. The shipyard was long gone.
The free group exists because those two years didn't have to be as hard as they were. With the right structure, the right community, and someone who'd already been through every losing streak and drawdown, it would have gone faster and cost less. That's what Painting Profits is built to be.
